Excellent Design

The iF product design award is one of the three most important design awards worldwide and already looks back on a history of 60 years. The iF label created by the International Forum Design Hannover is seen as an outstanding appreciation for excellent design. Every year some 2,000 products from up to 40 countries participate in the competition. In 2007 the participation for the IF award saw an all time high with 2,293 candidate products from 35 countries applying for the award. The international jury awards in twelve categories. Criteria for the evaluation are amongst others the quality of the design and craftsmanship, selection of the used materials and the degree of innovation. Also, the specialist board evaluates the environmental friendliness and ergonomics as well as safety and functionality of a product.

Amongst the big winners 2007 is the Still GmbH from Hamburg the leading supplier of intelligent control of Intralogistics, offering a broad range of warehouse trucks from low lift pallet trucks to high bay stackers. All four trucks Still had sent to compete for the iF label were awarded. These are the RX 20 lift truck, the CX 20 horizontal order picker as well as the EXU low lift pallet truck and the EXU-S low lift pallet truck with driver platform.

Every Still candidate awarded

As all Still products, the RX 20 follows a modular design. The truck is available with three and four wheels, with different frames and over head guard heights, and four different load capacities. It was the first truck worldwide with a load capacity above 1.5 tons allowing change of the battery laterally in the standard version. This shows the innovative power of Still and offers its users many advantages such as eliminating the necessity of a hoist to change the battery. The ergonomic workspace for the driver offering much space and the fully capsulated, energy saving three phase drives were additional plus points in the eyes of the jury.
