STILL and ECE lay the foundation stone for a new logistics centre in Hamburg

Hamburg’s Economics Senator Frank Horch and the Director of the Hamburg-Mitte regional office, Falko Drossmann, together with Dr Henry Puhl, Chairman of STILL’s Management Board, and ECE’s CEO Alexander Otto, laid the foundation stone for STILL GmbH’s new logistics centre in Hamburg on today´s Thursday. Two logistics buildings with a total area of approx. 27,000 m2 will be constructed by the spring of next year on a site at Billbrookdeich in the immediate vicinity of STILL’s head office. The project is being developed, planned and implemented by the Hamburg commercial properties specialist ECE. The project’s investment volume amounts to around EUR 30 million. STILL has concluded a long-term leasing agreement for the logistics centre, which ECE put on the investor market.
Flexible, innovative and close to the works – these are the guiding principles that will make STILL’s new logistics centre the innovative hub of future intralogistics for STILL. The large components warehouse and truck dispatch areas, previously at decentralised locations in the Billbrook business park, will be combined in the new logistics centre. This infrastructure project underlines STILL’s leading market position in the intelligent control of intralogistics materials flow, and strengthens its competence for intelligently networked fabrication concepts in its own parent company – to benefit customers worldwide.
Dr Henry Puhl, Chairman of STILL’s Management Board, stresses that “The new STILL Logistics Centre for which we are laying the foundation stone today will be a new milestone for our Hamburg location. It gives us future sustainability by creating the capacities needed for our target growth in the years lying ahead of us.”
According to ECE’s CEO Alexander Otto: “STILL is an enormously important player for Hamburg. We are very pleased to be able to create a customised logistics centre for the company, and to con-tribute in this way to securing the site’s future.”
