Smart solutions for Intralogistics 4.0

STILL grants insight into innovations for the CeMAT 2018 trade fair

CeMAT will showcase itself at the Hanover Fair from 24 to 28 April 2017 under the motto “Logistics 4.0 meets Industry 4.0”. Experts will demonstrate the contribution intralogistics can make to the industrial value added chain, with talks and panel discussions about current topics related to logistics and supply chain management. Market-leading manufacturers will present their innovative products in the accompanying exhibition in Pavilion P32. STILL, the Hamburg based intralogistics expert, is also on board and will give fair visitors an initial foretaste of innovations for the CeMAT 2018 trade fair.

The iGo neo CX 20 – A smart solution for Intralogistics 4.0.

STILL is showing the first autonomously operating order picker, the iGo neo CX 20, on a demonstration area at Stand D29 in Hall 16. With this innovative truck, STILL has broken through the boundary from a purely automated order-picking truck to an intelligent team player that interacts with its surroundings. Due to the man-machine interaction, the STILL iGo neo CX 20 offers a hitherto unseen level of reliability and efficiency in intralogistics processes. The order-picking truck can move forward intelligently by recognising its environment and operator, and follows only its user’s every step. In contrast to an unmanned automatic guided truck (AGV) that drives along a rigidly defined route and cannot avoid obstacles in its path, the automated truck is able not only to dodge obstacles skilfully but also to adapt its speed to its operator’s walking pace, and always takes up a loading position that is optimum for the user.

STILL’s Management Board Chairman Dr. Henry Puhl says “By breathing cognitive abilities into the iGo neo CX 20 together with its autonomy, we have now opened up entirely new options that allow us to design future logistics processes with even greater efficiency. The aim of adaptable intralogistics in an era of progressive digitisation is now within reach.” At the same time, the company does not view autonomy and automation as competing technologies in any sense, on the contrary, it intends to bring the two worlds together in the future.

Another of STILL’s focuses at Hanover Fair is the subject of alternative drive system technologies, especially lithium ion technology. Here again STILL will provide a glimpse of the future that trade fair visitors will then be able to experience live at the CeMAT trade fair next year. Dr. Henry Puhl explains “At the CeMAT 2018 we will take further important steps into the future by using smart products to illustrate what is technologically possible. Our declared aim is to design more efficient processes for our customers so they can reduce costs. At the same time, the focus is on a high level of process safety and security, easy handling and low implementation costs.”

The CeMAT trade fair will take place from 23 to 27 April 2018, and will for the first time be held together with the Hanover Fair. STILL will present its extensive product portfolio for internal logistics in the age of Industry 4.0 in the traditional way in Pavilion 35.
