RFID – invisible technology, visible progressRadio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a method to read and save data without physical or visual contact. STILL uses this technology as follows: The “intelligent truck” can read the information of so-called passive transponders which are placed in the floor at regular intervals and use the results to optimise business processes. 
RFID SAFETYRFID Safety is a driver assistance system affecting the control system of the truck when passing over certain transponders e.g. to automatically reduce the speed of the truck at danger spots such as crossings or narrow passages. In addition, the drive direction can be controlled to monitor one-way roads or to prevent entry into sensible areas. It is also possible to control other safety features such as lighting. Altogether this is a bundle of features substantially increasing the safety.

RFID LOCATORIf the RFID Locator is used, the movement of material can be traced indirectly by tracing the movement of the truck and monitoring stacking and destacking operation of the truck at the respective locations. The double sensors of the RFID locator on the mast allow automatic identification of storage locations. This way this technology augments existing equipment such as STILL MMS by transmitting additional information to the superior administration systems by wireless LAN (WLAN).
