Handover of the 250,000th truck to GSK

After the first anniversary in January with the production of the 500,000th counterbalance truck in its Hamburg factory there was the second anniversary for STILL this week. On Tuesday, 05th April, OM STILL handed over a brand new high lift pallet truck of the type EXV 10 to GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). What makes this fact so special is that the EXV 10 is the 250,000th produced truck in STILL factory of Luzzara (Italy). For this reason, the anniversary truck was received directly by Marco Malaguti, managing director of GSK.

Luzzara factory has a longtime experience in the development and manufacturing of warehouse trucks since its story begins in the Sixties when the company was founded under the name Piccola Industria Meccanica Sul Po, named PIMESPO within these walls. The plant has grown a lot since then. Today the trucks from Luzzara factory are distributed worldwide. In 2011 the factory was chosen as center of warehouse truck production for the whole STILL Group. Under the guidance of Meinhard Braun, plant manager since 2010 and managing director operations of OM Carrelli Elevatori from the end of 2014, it has been completely renewed, expanded and modernised. To offer the highest flexibility and efficiency, the assembly lines have been fully redesigned and an ultra-modern automated and highly ecological painting system was installed.

Meinhard Braun, plant manager and managing director operations of OM STILL, explains: “In a few years we have radically changed the plant, tripling production volumes and extending the range of the produced trucks. Thanks to these changes we can produce continuously both standard and niche trucks, for the most part on demand. That is an extraordinary achievement and the much of the merit goes to all the operational team in Luzzara. There is indeed in these areas a work culture deeply rooted in history, both our employees and many local suppliers show an ability to innovations, discipline, rigour, reliability and an orientation to problem solving that are unique”.

The 250,000th truck, a high lift pallet truck EXV 10, has been handed over to GSK, a pharmaceutical company that is an longtime OM STILL customer. The truck is a part of a large order intended for the plants in Verona and Parma. GSK is committed on a global scale in the research and development of innovative medicines and vaccines. This company with over 5,000 employees, is serving over 120 markets and is present in Italy with four factories and an excellence research center specialized in discovering new vaccines.

Marco Malaguti managing director of GSK stated: “I am proud to become part of this company history by receiving the 250,000th truck produced here in Luzzara.
