When White Drive Motors and Steering expanded its factory premises with warehouse and R&D, the company wanted modern material handling solutions with safety systems that would guarantee collision-free operation. STILL Poland was commissioned to develop a bespoke fleet and safety concept for the new site, with the aim of making the entire internal transport of goods both safe and efficient.
White Drive Motors and Steering is the world’s leading manufacturer of hydraulic motors and control blocks. Since 2021, the company has been part of the Interpump Group, a global market leader for high-pressure piston pumps and hydraulic components. White’s products are not only used in agricultural machinery, construction machinery, the mining industry and forklift trucks, but in many other sectors too; thanks to their versatility, the possible product applications are almost limitless. While extending its manufacturing and R&D site near Wroclaw, White also expanded its vehicle fleet for internal transport.
Challenge: Establishing a safe and efficient intralogistics fleet
The White Drive Motors and Steering plant near Wroclaw is home to the company’s production, warehouse and R&D facilities. As a technology leader in the industry, White also looks for innovative and – above all – safe solutions from its equipment partners. “Safety in the workplace is critical for us and we therefore implement a range of measures aimed at promoting health and safety at the site. We mark out traffic routes and display signs at fire protection and first aid points. We also use barriers to protect people from accidents with machines,” explains Marcin Stokłosa, Vice President Europe Operations at White Drive Motors and Steering. He adds: “We selected STILL as our supplier of internal transport equipment over ten years ago, based on the innovative strength and safety of their solutions.” STILL Poland also supplied the vehicles for the latest expansion of the fleet at the White plant in Lower Silesia.
Solution: Electric forklift trucks with modern safety systems
The completed plant expansion required an increase in production volume and storage capacity, and a new fleet concept was developed on the basis of the forecast demand. With the expansion complete, a total of 50 vehicles are now in operation for internal transport at the site near Wroclaw. “We put together a comprehensive fleet of diverse, customised vehicles that satisfy White’s specific requirements. The EXV and FXV high-lift pallet trucks, FM-X reach trucks, EXU low-lift pallet trucks and RX 20 and RX 60 electric forklift trucks are used for internal transport,” says Zbigniew Chodukiewicz, Senior Key Account Manager at STILL Poland. “We’ve equipped the vehicles with additional safety systems, such as STILL Safety Light, which displays a blue light spot on the ground in the direction of travel and warns road users of the truck from a distance. Camera systems detect pedestrians, other vehicles and objects, and warn the operator as soon as they come too close.”
The result? Safe and highly efficient internal transport
A complete solution from a single supplier brings with it decisive advantages. When vehicles and safety solutions are perfectly coordinated with each other, efficiency is maximised and the risk of accidents and collisions kept to a minimum. “Over our many years of collaboration with STILL, including the most recent project, it has become clear to us that they can always be relied on as a holistic provider of forklift trucks and safety solutions,” enthuses Sylwester Jankowski, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at White Drive Motors and Steering. To sum up, he says: “Thanks to the industrial trucks used in our plant, we achieve efficient load handling, while the integrated safety systems significantly reduce the risk of collisions. We can thoroughly recommend STILL Poland to all companies that value safety in the warehouse and on the production lines.”
