STILL presents precision-fit lithium-ion battery for the most common application profiles

Smart energy systems for every need

Energy efficiency is more important today than ever before. However, the challenges in intralogistics are as diverse as the requirements for forward-looking energy systems are comprehensive and varied. Intralogistics expert STILL, based in Hamburg, is therefore focusing on smart scalability and precision fit when it comes to energy systems, and is expanding its battery portfolio with a new lithium-ion battery that covers the most common application profiles in the industry. Manufactured and installed at the Hamburg site, it offers maximum efficiency, quality and sustainability.

Smart instead of maximum: STILL's expanded portfolio of lithium-ion batteries offers every customer the perfect technical and economic solution for their individual challenges.

STILL's current battery portfolio covers the entire spectrum of intralogistics challenges and application scenarios. Its powerful 'Plus' lithium-ion batteries, which are available in three voltage classes and with different capacities, can easily handle even the most intensive multi-shift operations with high performance requirements. However, not every company needs the maximum possible battery power for its logistics processes.

"We realised that many of our customers are not using the full capacity of our lithium-ion batteries," explains Sascha Jordan, Senior Director Strategy & Solution Portfolio STILL. "That’s why a battery was developed that combines all the advantages of lithium-ion technology with attractive value for money, tailored to market and customer needs."

Smart instead of maximum

As is often the case with STILL, the principle is not to provide maximum performance at any price, but rather the most technically and economically sensible solution to every challenge. Customers receive exactly the energy system that best suits their application profile, from advice on choosing the right battery through to the charger, and only pay for the performance they need. “With our energy systems, we focus on intelligent energy supply rather than sheer size and performance,” emphasises Gesa Kaatz, New Energy Advisor at STILL. This approach avoids expensive oversizing, reducing investment costs and shortening the payback period. This is because annual operating hours in the low four-digit range cover the majority of typical intralogistics applications. And for customers with higher performance and operating time requirements, the lithium-ion ‘Plus’ series of performance batteries is still available.

The new battery is also a smart choice for customers who previously used lead-acid batteries and now want to benefit from a longer runtime, reduced maintenance requirements and greater energy efficiency. In terms of the price-performance ratio, it can certainly compete with lead-acid systems throughout its entire service life. It also comes with intelligent thermal management and offers the same service concept and warranty conditions as all other STILL lithium-ion batteries.

Perfectly in sync with the RX 20

In combination with STILL's best-selling electric forklift, the RX 20, the new STILL lithium-ion battery provides companies with a smart introduction to lithium-ion technology. Designed for everyday use in single-shift operations, it offers reliable, energy-efficient performance. "In the powerful and manoeuvrable RX 20, our new lithium-ion battery provides the ideal performance for most everyday logistics tasks, coupled with all the benefits of this technology: short charging times, high energy efficiency, a long service life, and maintenance-free operation," says Gesa Kaatz. "And all this at a price that makes the switch particularly attractive for many companies — exactly what our customers need."

Local battery production strengthens Hamburg location

A particular highlight is that the battery, which was developed within the group, is manufactured at the Hamburg site. "By this we can implement adjustments to our vehicles and customer requirements quickly and efficiently, offering perfect coordination of vehicle, battery and charging technology from a single source," says Gesa Kaatz. On-site production also shortens transport routes and enables more sustainable production. In this way, STILL is strengthening its own competitiveness while also consolidating Hamburg's position as a production location.
