STILL welcomes 71 new apprentices and dual students
Welcome to the world of intralogistics
Welcome to STILL! This was the message for the 71 apprentices and dual students starting their apprenticeships and dual study programmes at the headquarters of the Hamburg-based intralogistics specialist and its seven branches throughout Germany today. The young adults are beginning their training and studies at STILL in seven vocational programmes and five dual study programmes today.
STILL welcomed its new employees to its headquarters in Hamburg and its other branches with the traditional 'Welcome Day'. As well as a personal welcome from training manager Jan Wehlen and the training team, the new recruits were given an opportunity to gain initial insights into the company, its solutions, its values and philosophy, and its cooperative and appreciative working environment. As part of the onboarding process, the new recruits will gain exciting insights into the various professional and learning environments over the coming weeks. They will also learn about the current health and safety standards and take part in a variety of team-building activities - culminating in the week-long ‘Forklift Truck Construction Seminar’.
The skilled workers of tomorrow: Focus on technical and industrial professions
Innovative technologies, automation and robotics are all key topics at STILL, whether in forklift truck manufacturing, mechatronics or battery production. Training highly qualified young professionals in technical and industrial training programmes is therefore also a high priority, in order to meet the great challenges of the future with innovative strength, know-how and technological excellence. Of the 71 career starters, 51 are beginning training in technical and industrial professions, including nine young women. This is no coincidence: as part of its comprehensive commitment to career guidance for school pupils, STILL always prioritises awakening young people's interest in so-called STEM professions in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and specifically encourages young girls to pursue their interests in these areas and believe in themselves and their abilities.
For six young adults, today marks the start of their dual study programme. Alongside the programmes in 'Electrical Engineering' and 'Information Technology' and 'Mechatronics', the 'Technical Computer Science and IT Engineering' programme is also represented. Here, students of the Nordakademie learn how to answer complex questions relating to the digitalised economy, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things — skills that will be invaluable in the future, not just in the intralogistics industry.
Training at the highest level: Excellent training programme and a hiring rate of over 90 percent
STILL has received numerous awards in recent years for its excellent training programme and commitment to career guidance, including the 'Excellent Commitment to Career Guidance' company seal from SchuleWirtschaft Hamburg.
The company's hiring rate speaks for itself: on average, more than 90 per cent of apprentices and dual students receive a job or further study offer from STILL after completing their training, providing them with attractive long-term career prospects. STILL will be training a total of 260 young talents in seven different apprenticeship professions and eight dual study programmes across nine locations in Germany from the start of the 2025 training year.
