STILL hands over an RX 50-10 electric truck to the German Red Cross as a donation in kind

Humanity is moving

Lindlar/Hamburg, 9th November 2015 – STILL GmbH, a leading supplier of customized intralogistics solutions worldwide, handed over a Type RX 50-10 electric truck on Saturday, 7th November 2015, to the German Red Cross (DRK).

STILL´s branch Krefeld donates a Type RX 50-10 electric truck to the German Red Cross (DRK).

The environmentally friendly machine will be used by the German Red Cross, local branch Oberbergischer Kreis e.V. Large amounts of relief supplies are sent every day from their Lindlar distribution centre to three refugee reception centres in the region. A cleverly designed logistics system ensures that a wide variety of relief supplies, from a disposable toothbrush or shampoo in a hygiene kit and pallets of mineral water or baby food to mattresses for tent camps built at short notice, arrive exactly where help is most needed: to the hundreds of refugees arriving in the region every day.

Wherever humanitarian challenges demand fast, efficient action, aid organisations like the DRK depend nowadays on a logistics chain that is at least as efficient as industrial companies. Those responsible in Lindlar are also convinced of this, and asked STILL’s branch in Krefeld for competent advice and technical support. It soon became clear that an electric truck of the RX 50 type would be an ideal match for the use profile in the distribution centre’s logistics buildings. And because this also needs professional operation of the machine, ten volunteer helpers will complete a truck training course on the same day as the handover. This service is sponsored by the North Rhine Westphalia Logistics Training Centre in Holzwickede.

STILL has collaborated successfully with this training establishment for many years. Commenting on this, Hildegard Kranenberg of the DRK’s Oberbergischer Kreis local branch says: “Only if logistics specialists like STILL and the LAZ logistics training centre lend a sympathetic ear to our concerns and actively assist us will the extraordinary commitment of our volunteer helpers be as efficient as it needs to be on the ground every day.” Christian Szekeres from STILL’s Krefeld branch adds: “Anyone who works every day to ensure that the intralogistics flow of materials functions must make his or her competence available to serve the good cause in the context of the influx of refugees. STILL helps the helpers to give assistance.”
