STILL commits itself to the “Logistics Heroes” campaign throughout Germany

Hamburg, 07.06.2019 - STILL is one of 14 companies throughout Germany that has provided a logistics hero from among its staff for their image campaign in the context of an initiative called “Die Wirtschaftsmacher”. The campaign, now ongoing in the whole of Germany, draws attention to the importance and above all the variety of job profiles in the logistics sector. The campaign is backed by more than 75 companies, logistics-related federations, associations and media. STILL relies on its popular appeal to talented young people and on their competence to enable it to keep its sustainable position as a supplier of intralogistics solutions. Teamwork between people, technology and logistics for nearly 100 years is ultimately what accounts for the corporate brand’s success.

“Logistics Heroes” as active sector ambassadors

The “Logistics Heroes” nationwide image campaign by Germany’s third-biggest industrial segment aims to inspire career starters and jobseekers for its job profiles and to improve the public’s perception of the logistics industry. Selected “Logistics Heroes” are the campaign’s core, acting as credible ambassadors representing the highly varied fields of logistics activities and using exciting stories from their daily business routine to communicate to the public an authentic picture of their industry.

Thomas A. Fischer, CSO of STILL GmbH, says: “Logistics, especially intralogistics, are the motive power of our economy and a driving force of technical innovations, and offer a really exciting work environment. Together with many other partners, we are delighted to be able to strengthen the public’s perception of our industry through the “Logistics Heroes” campaign. It’s a fantastic opportunity to inspire junior staff and to take an active role in shaping the future of logistics.”

STILL Logistics Hero Matthias Haase is revolutionising materials transport

Job profiles in the logistics sector are as diverse as the range of tasks in the logistics industry. For example, Matthias Haase’s everyday work routine shows how much future potential it contains. He was chosen for the “Logistics Heroes” project from among a large number of applicants. At the age of 26, the qualified mechatronics engineer works as a robotics expert for STILL in Hamburg, where he brings people and machines to a common denominator by perfecting the transition from a classical industrial truck to robotics. Matthias Haase deploys his specialist technical expertise from the initial idea to final operation in the customer’s business, thus accompanying the entire development of STILL’s autonomous trucks. To do this, he must weave performance, safety and ergonomics into a single fabric. That extends far beyond AI and algorithms, because tomorrow’s logistics industry will be shaped in particular by value-oriented human competences such as customer focus and willingness to serve. Summarizing his mission, Matthias Haase says “I am a logistics hero because I bring artificial intelligence into intralogistics, thereby creating genuine competitive advantages for my customers. This gives me unlimited opportunities to develop new functionalities and products by which I revolutionise future intralogistics.”

A wide variety of job profiles in digital logistics

In scarcely any other branch of industry is digital change as much a part of everyday thinking as it is in logistics. That’s why the “Logistics Heroes” campaign will actively counterbalance the labour shortage and will significantly increase the attractiveness of job profiles in logistics and supply chain management. There are over 200 trained professions to choose from, and more than one hundred higher education institutions in Germany offer a wide variety of degree courses in the logistics competence field. This is why STILL, as a part of the “Logistics Heroes” initiative, is proud to be able to draw the public’s attention to this linchpin of the economy.
